MyCookbook - Recipe Box
1. Overview
ALSTIG INC ("we," "our," or "us") built MyCookbook - Recipe Box (the "App") as a personal recipe management tool. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information in connection with your use of the App. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
2. Information We Collect and Don't Collect
MyCookbook - Recipe Box stores your recipes locally on your device. We collect data in only two limited cases:
- Recipe scanning. When you scan a recipe, the photo you capture is sent to our server and a third-party AI service to read the recipe (optical character recognition). Scan images are used only to extract the recipe and are not stored after processing.
- Subscriptions. If you subscribe to MyCookbook Pro, we use RevenueCat to manage your subscription. RevenueCat collects a store-assigned anonymous subscriber/device identifier and your purchase history, solely to validate and manage your subscription (see Section 6).
We do not collect, transmit, or store your name, email address, or contact information; your location data; usage analytics or behavioral tracking data; advertising identifiers; or your recipe content beyond the scan image described above.
3. Local Storage
All recipe content you create or import — including text, photos, ingredients, and instructions — is stored on your device. Aside from the recipe-scan image described in Section 2, this data does not leave your device unless you choose to export or share it using the App's built-in sharing features.
4. Camera and Photo Library Access
The App may request access to your camera and photo library to allow you to:
- Scan recipes using OCR (optical character recognition)
- Add photos to your recipes
- Import recipe images from your photo library
When you scan a recipe, the captured image is sent to our server and a third-party AI service for OCR processing to read the recipe. Scan images are used only to extract the recipe and are not stored after processing. Photos you add to a recipe (rather than scan) remain on your device.
5. Subscription and Payment Information
MyCookbook - Recipe Box offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions (MyCookbook Pro), processed through the app store you install from — Apple's App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android. We do not collect or have access to your payment information. All billing is handled by Apple or Google in accordance with their respective privacy policies and terms of service. 6. Third-Party Services
The App uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscription status. RevenueCat may collect limited technical data (such as a store-assigned anonymous subscriber ID from Apple or Google) solely for the purpose of validating and managing your subscription. RevenueCat does not receive your recipe data or personal information. You can review RevenueCat's privacy practices at revenuecat.com/privacy.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.
8. Data Security
Because all your recipe data is stored locally on your device, its security is protected by your device's built-in security features. We recommend using a strong passcode or biometric lock on your device to protect your data.
9. Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)
Although MyCookbook - Recipe Box stores data locally and collects minimal personal information, we respect your privacy rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You have the right to:
- Access — request details about what personal data we process
- Deletion — request deletion of any personal data we hold. You can also delete all local App data by removing the App from your device
- Portability — receive your data in a portable format
- Opt-out of sale — we do not sell your personal information to third parties
- Non-discrimination — exercising your rights will not affect the service you receive
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@alstiginc.com. We will respond within 30 days (CCPA) or without undue delay and no later than one month (GDPR).
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
